* your 1) and 2) points are generally called "monkey patching" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monkey_patching)
* your third point is just about syntax, and related to the previous twos.
* your 4th point could be worded as "function is a first-class citizen", though the "this" variable and the notion of "context" is somehow confusing, and different from what you find in other languages.
* finally, how about "inheritance"? That's what makes JavaScript/ECMAScript a "so special" language: it's prototype-based rather than class-based and people have a hard time figuring out how to play with it.

In a few words: you should write a "part 2" article going a bit farther ;-)

Hi Aaron,

 I, infact we - <a href='http://www.edujini-labs.com' rel="nofollow">Edujini™ Team</a> - conduct trainings across India.

Specialize in technical trainings. Besides, we do a lot of interesting stuff. You may want to have a look at <a href='http://eduzine.edujini-labs.com' rel="nofollow">Eduzine™</a>.

Hi Ajay,

Thanks for your response.

However, Google Gears is a technology for off-line storage only. I feel that it, still, cannot be classified as a technology for RIA or Web 2.0.

It may be consumed by Dojo or GWT or others to create RIA or Web 2.0 Applications.

You need to include Curl (http://www.curl.com) in your list. Curl, like Flex and Silverlight, is not based on JavaScript (Ajax) but no it own runtime.

We've shown Curl to be 8 - 10 times faster than Flex and Curl has been around a lot longer - you may not have heard of it because we are Enterprise focused rather than mass-consumer focused. Anyway, Curl is the dominate solution in the Enterprise and should be included in you list.

I completely agree with the above....As per recent survey, the age of an average Indian is between 26-28 yrs. Why we dont have any young polotician yet??.....its really serious coz the average age of politicians in India is between 55-59 yrs. Guys just imagine the difference between the thinking process of our politians and youngsters. Its going to clash every time. Politians are still very conservative and for sustainable development of ous country and ppl we need to think from a global prospective. Its really sad and its an request to all please vote wisely and after giving a second thought. Hope we have a better future tough its not looking to promising. Ankit.
